Now this is usually the part of the year where I’d release a list of Best and Worst Movies of the year. However, this year I’ve decided that my year (in terms of cinema) isn’t going to end until next year March. There’s always a delay in movies making their way to my side of the world; with some movies that I really want to see from a particular year only making it to my side of the world the following year. I’ve decided to stop fighting that and embrace it. So I’m going to wait patiently for these movies to come, write the relevant reviews and then release my Best and Worst lists. So expect that anytime around March.
But this has been a great year and one that certainly deserves reflection. I’ve been blogging for just over a year now and I’m really starting to find my stride. I’m definitely more in control of my blog and happier with the content and readership than I was this time last year. I obviously still have a lot to learn but 2015 taught me a lot. I found my rhythm and greater consistency in my posts this year. I polished up the look and feel of my blog and, while it isn’t 100% what I want it to be, I’m quite pleased with where it stands at the moment.
The WordPress Team sent me an email with a summary of my blog’s stats for the year. I published 186 posts this year from last year’s 45. The number of visitors and views on my blog have both increased 10 times from last year. I estimate that I visited the cinema about 110 times this year. It’s been a great year for my blog and me. I love watching movies, and I love talking about movies so having this platform is truly amazing.
But I think the best thing about this year has been the bloggers I’ve discovered and the ones that have discovered me. The internet can be a savage place but I’ve met some really kind people who have taught me, entertained me and given me new opportunities. So to all those people, thank you. Thank you for the work you create, that I’ve often jealous of and pushes me to try to make my own work better.
This blog is a medium of self-expression but if I just wanted to express myself I’d have a diary. There’s obviously a layer of narcissism in all of this so I’d like to thank all my regular readers and commenters. Thanks for the compliments and feeding my ego. If you guys weren’t here, this would be decidedly less fun.
I’m planning new things and ways to expand the blog. I’m also working towards posting more regularly and having a review up everyday. This isn’t going to be easy because apparently I can’t just watch movies all day and actually have to interact with the outside world and the rest of my life; but I will try my best. So here’s wishing you a Happy New Year and a 2016 full of great movies.
If there’s a movie you would like me to review or a comment you’d like to share, just fill in the form below or just comment on this post or any other post.

This is a very well written post. I like the way you included screen grabs. I wanted to do that but couldn’t figure out how. And gee, you blogged a LOT this year. Great job.

Thank you. For the screengrabs, just press print screen, open up paint and paste the image there :). I needed a lot of movies to get me through this year, was a bit intense at times.

I use a mac book pro and can never remember the command for doing a screen shot. There’s no print screen button. (I usually ask my daughter.) It takes a lot to get me motivated to go to the movies. Has to be an actor I like, or date night, or extreme boredom, etc. Or if there’s something my kids want to see. Kudos to you on finding an outlet for your passion.

I know I read this other day and swore I commented on it. I guess the cyberspace ghost ate it, or something. Anyhoo, this place was an awesome discovery for me in 2015. Your reviews are always thoughtful, insightful, and expressed with high quality writing. It is a pleasure reading them. I look forward to doing so plenty of times in 2016.
